Music Mysteries is a free website that teaches classical music through detective style games. Instead of memorizing dates and names, students listen closely, follow clues, and solve cases about the composers and pieces that shaped music history.
The site includes 24 music mysteries, 24 historical mysteries, a growing library of composer biographies, an interactive timeline of music history, and a family tree that connects more than 100 composers. Everything is free to use in classrooms, at home, or anywhere else.
Music Mysteries was created by me, Matt Siciliano, a high school student and Cellist who wanted a more engaging way to introduce people to classical music. New content is added regularly, and feedback from teachers and students helps decide what comes next.
Have a suggestion, a correction, or an idea for a case? Email me at musicmysteries@icloud.com. Teachers are especially welcome to share how they use the site in class.
Teachers: if you use Music Mysteries with you students, please share your feedback using this 2 minute form.
